Sam Bush, bluegrass singer and maestro of the mandolin and fiddle, is sometimes called the King of Telluride. Heaven knows, the man has earned the title, appearing at nearly every festival the Colorado city has hosted in 37 years.
Perhaps one day he will also be known as the King of Snowbasin.

By Jeffrey Lee Puckett
When Quint Davis was hired to produce this weekend's HullabaLOU Music Festival, he didn't hesitate about his first order of business.
"When I got called, the first thing I did was have our talent people find all of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame acts," said Davis, of New Orleans. "Really, that was the first thing I did before I looked for any headliners."

When musician Sam Bush entered the studio with local favorites Dread Clampitt two years ago, he left behind more than simply stellar recordings of his work on the mandolin, fiddle and banjo. He also left behind one of his own prized mandolins in the hands of Dread Clampitt’s own, Balder Saunders.

If you get three-time Grammy winner Sam Bush's voicemail you might think it's Harry Caray or Will Ferrell doing his impression of the late, great Chicago Cubs announcer. But it's Bush. To clarify, Bush says he's doing an earlier version of Caray, back when he announced St. Louis Cardinal games Bush listened to growing up.

Just announced: The Harvest Festival returns
Sam Bush plays a version of Dylan’s “Girl From The North Country.” We think (and hope) Bush is coming to Arkansas for the Mulberry Mountain Harvest Music Festival in October.
We know that everyone’s attention has been fixed on Wakarusa, and why not? There’s plenty happening, and it starts tomorrow.

Sam Bush is a beloved musical force.
Labels more narrow don't cover all the feelings and memories fans possess about Sam's fiery stage performances, expressive instrumental chops, honest singing and heart-true songwriting.
Kentucky legislators recently recognized Sam as the Father of Newgrass Music. He earned the title by leading incarnations of the Newgrass Revival and unapologetically blending music styles on stage and in recordings.

Native son Sam Bush has made us proud
Bowling Green Daily News
March 26, 2010
By the Daily News
It had to be quite an honor for Bowling Green native and musician Sam Bush to be recognized by the state legislature as the father of newgrass.
The legislation passed unanimously Tuesday by the Kentucky General Assembly. It also names Bowling Green as the birthplace of newgrass, a spinoff of bluegrass music.
It is indeed a coup for our city to obtain this recognition.
